Each week on “Your Legal Buzz” our host Steve Strum talks to attorneys in the North Florida area who are making a difference. This week Steve sat down with Amber Donley from the Donley Law Firm, PLLC.

Why did you choose to go into law?: Attending law school was a childhood dream. While in high school I was in a legal magnet program. Overall, I think I was probably influenced by shows like A Different World or The Cosby Show.

What is your specific field of law?: My practice areas are family law, probate, guardianship, and estate planning.

How do you set yourself apart from other firms in the area?: I set myself apart by providing stellar service and representation. My clients have access to me. I am professional, personable, and I care about the work that I do on behalf of people.

What do you see as the greatest challenges in your practice?: There is not enough time in the day.

What do you consider to be your greatest accomplishment as an attorney?: My greatest accomplishment as an attorney is owning my own practice and owning commercial real estate.

Are you involved in any local organizations?: Throughout the pandemic I served as a Pro Bono attorney with Jericho Road and Jacksonville Area Legal Aid. In addition, I am the Vice-President of Three Rivers Legal Services Board. I am a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., D.W. Perkins Bar, and the Jacksonville Bar Association.

What advice would you give someone considering going to law school?: If your main focus in making money, don’t waste your time. The law is about helping people to resolve issues. Find a law school that will allow you to gain practical experience.
