Chris:
Welcome to Five Minute Salute. I’m your host, Chris Budihas. And joining me from Switzerland is Jake Frazer with Precision Talent Solutions. Jake, how are you?
Jake:
Doing great, Chris. Thanks for having me on. Appreciate it.
Chris:
Thanks for taking the time. Switzerland — what a great country to live in. You’re living the dream.
Jake:
Been here eighteen years. I don’t plan on leaving.
Chris:
Wonderful. Since this is the Five Minute Sleuth, let’s get a little background on you. Where are you originally from, and what did you do in the military?
Jake:
Yeah, I come from a long military lineage. Both grandfathers were Army, my dad was a career officer — a real Cold War guy. My brother was career information operations. My mom was a DoD school teacher.
I did ROTC at Vanderbilt back in the early nineties and deployed to Bosnia in ’96. I really thought I’d stay in the military long-term, but I ran into government contractors out on the “battlefield” and realized that was a good way to make a living.
I didn’t want to leave Europe, so I took a European out in ’99. But I was a cav guy — tanks, Bradleys — breaking stuff all the time.
Chris:
That’s wonderful. And I see the scarlet and white in the background.
Jake:
Yeah — four years was enough though. That was good.
Chris:
So, Precision Talent Solutions. What is this company, and how do you guys operate?
Jake:
It’s easy to do what we do because we’ve been out there in the mission. We’ve had the company for ten years now. I started it with my former business partner — we served together in the Army and worked together for about twenty-seven years.
The business focuses specifically on talent for the government contracting space. We specialize in companies supporting the military, the Department of State, humanitarian missions, the UN, NATO — all of it.
We do permanent placement recruiting from C-suite and board seats, to vice presidents and program managers, all the way down to technical field positions.
We’ve even sent mechanics into Ukraine to repair equipment and trainers into Africa. We pretty much cover the whole organizational chart — but only for government contracting.
We’ve built a thirty-person team and developed a cool technology stack that includes psychometrics, personality assessments, and video interviews to supercharge how we recruit.
Chris:
So what was the motivation? How did you get into recruiting and placement?
Jake:
After the Army, I worked inside one of the big publicly traded integrators for six years and saw how they approached talent. Then my partner and I ran a mid-size prime — about a $200 million business — for a decade.
Even though it was a supply-chain company, it was really a people business. We used psychometrics, 360s, and personality assessments to run the team, and I got really excited about the people side of things.
When we sold that company, I realized the biggest challenge in the industry isn’t supply chain or technology — it’s people. And we knew we could add a lot of value by helping companies recruit better.
Chris:
Are you European-focused or global?
Jake:
Truly global. About eighty percent of our customers are American companies, and about sixty percent of our placements are in the U.S. since we handle a lot of higher-level roles.
But we’ve worked everywhere — Japan, Antarctica, Africa, the Middle East, Europe, even a bit in SouthCom. Our reach is genuinely global.
Chris:
There are others in this space — what’s your value proposition? Why go with Precision Talent Solutions?
Jake:
If you want to do great recruiting, you need empathy. You have to understand what the customer is going through and what the candidate is going through.
Everyone on my team has been out in the field — Iraq, Afghanistan, Africa — so we all understand the urgency and the mission.
And our technology differentiates us. I don’t think others are using psychometrics, video interviews, and personality assessments the way we do. Combined with our background, it makes a huge difference.
Chris:
That’s huge. Because if your clients aren’t getting the right people, they won’t come back.
Jake:
Exactly. I tell clients, I don’t want a one-year relationship — I want you as a client for life. We want to be partners, not just a vendor.
Chris:
I love that.
Jake:
Yeah. We’ve also spent years giving back and helping transitioning military. I had to figure it out the hard way when I left, so we’ve mentored sergeants, captains, colonels — and recently over forty transitioning general officers.
This year we’ve also helped about a hundred Senior Executive Service leaders transitioning out of agencies like FBI, DHS, NASA — you name it.
We’re helping them find fractional advisory, board, and consulting opportunities in government contracting. 2025 has been a unique year for this, and we’re proud of that work.
Chris:
That’s fantastic. So for listeners: first, if I’m an individual looking for an opportunity and want to talk to Precision Talent Solutions, how do I contact you? And second, if I’m a company that needs help filling positions, how do I reach you?
Jake:
LinkedIn is the easiest. Just search Jake Fraser or Precision Talent Solutions.
Our website is PTS.career.
We’re truly global — someone is always online given our footprint.
We also offer a career transition service line where we help with resumes, branding, and job search strategy — we call it Career Concierge. It’s incredibly rewarding to help people find that next step.
Chris:
Absolutely. When you go through basic training or your officer course, you have three hundred new best friends. But when you leave, you’re leaving alone.
And back when you got out in ’99 — I got out of the Marines in 2000 — there was no transition assistance. It’s so much better now, but you still need the right partner.
Precision really fills that gap the right way.
Jake:
We try. And the testimonials reflect that — we’ve got about 168 of them on our LinkedIn page from customers, candidates, and transitioning military. It gives good context on what we do.
Chris:
Jake, thank you for your time and for your service to the nation. Encourage everyone to connect with you and me on LinkedIn and check out what Precision Talent Solutions can do for your company or for you personally.
Jake:
Thanks a lot, Chris. Appreciate you having me.
Chris:
Absolutely. Connect with both Jake and me on LinkedIn, and we’ll see you in our next segment — a little bit of gratitude.
