“Buzzworthy Businesses” is an inspiring talk show that highlights community leaders, innovative companies, and organizations making a real impact. In this episode, host Morgan Yonge sits down with attorney Daniel Rudez of Rudez Law, a trusted provider of business law and immigration legal services, and founder of Balkan Business Networking, a professional network empowering Balkan entrepreneurs and business owners. Together, they discuss building connections, shifting business mindsets, and creating opportunities for growth and collaboration within the Balkan community and beyond.
Welcome back to another episode of Buzzworthy Businesses, where we highlight leaders who are making a big impact both locally and across the nation.
I’m Morgan Yonge, and I’m joined today by Daniel Rudez with Balkan News Networking.
Morgan: Daniel, good to see you.
Daniel: Good to see you too.
Morgan: Tell me about what got you started with Balkan News Networking.
Daniel: The idea came from my background. In graduate school I studied policy analysis and gained experience in economic development. I worked with the State of Florida, the city of Gainesville, and did consulting for other counties. Later, when I entered the private business world, I got involved with chambers of commerce. Eventually, I realized there wasn’t a chamber or group representing people from the Balkan region. I saw a huge opportunity—and that’s where the idea came from.
Morgan: I love it. You host monthly gatherings, right? Networking with different groups?
Daniel: Yes. It’s not just for people from the Balkan region—it’s open to everyone. The Balkan connection is more of an entry point. The real goal is to create a culture of networking, something not very common in that part of the world. We want people to understand that business doesn’t happen the same way everywhere. Sometimes you meet someone now and see the benefit months later—it’s about planting seeds and letting them grow.
Morgan: For those unfamiliar, what countries make up the Balkans?
Daniel: Generally, it refers to the former Yugoslavia, but technically it also includes Albania, Bulgaria, and surrounding areas. It’s similar to how people say “Iberian Peninsula” as a general regional term. We don’t want to be too narrowly focused—it’s better to include the broader region.
Morgan: Absolutely. And this is about supporting your neighbors—people who’ve come here to build a life and support their families. You’re creating connections, raising each other up, and surrounding yourselves with like-minded people. What are some of the big goals you’re looking forward to?
Daniel: One key goal is helping business owners shift their mindset. Many try to do everything themselves—accounting, cleaning, running the business—when really they should think of themselves as business owners working on the business, not just in it. We want to encourage prosperity by teaching people how to delegate, expand, and think bigger.
Morgan: What’s the first step for a business owner used to doing everything alone?
Daniel: First, realize you can’t do everything yourself. Second, admit that you need help. That humility is a huge hurdle. Once you recognize the value of surrounding yourself with advisors, mentors, and community, it becomes easier. You’re not alone—we succeed together.
Morgan: And the benefit is more than just business growth—you get more time with family, you serve clients better, and you create the life you dreamed of.
Daniel: Exactly. The goal is for the business to serve you, not the other way around. We promote those ideas in a fun, engaging way through networking and events. Sometimes we add educational presentations, but mostly we just want to create space for people to ask for help and find better ways to succeed.
Morgan: How can someone get involved in Balkan News Networking?
Daniel: We host monthly events, which we post on our Facebook page, Balkan Business Networking. We also hold holiday events and educational sessions throughout the year.
Morgan: Wonderful. Thank you so much for coming on the show and sharing your vision. I’m excited to see your community grow and thrive here in the States.
Daniel: Thank you.
Morgan: And thank you to our viewers for tuning in to another episode of Buzzworthy Businesses. For more information about Balkan Business Networking and Daniel Rudez, visit dailynewsnetwork.com and balkannewsnetwork.com. We’ll see you in the next episode!
