Welcome to Living My Faith, a weekly show that celebrates the everyday believers who are walking with Jesus not just on Sundays, but in every area of their lives. From relationships and parenting to health, habits, and home, our guests share how they keep their faith at the center of it all. Hosted in Jacksonville, Florida and supported by Christ-centered partners, Living My Faith is a space where real life meets real faith. Today our hosts, Daniel Poor spoke with Justin Woodruff.

Short company description:

Our church seeks to love and follow Jesus Christ, as one family, no matter the cost, for the glory of God.

Can you share a moment or experience that significantly deepened or shaped your faith journey?

When my family was placed with our first child through foster care in Little Rock, Arkansas. That beautiful 2 day old baby girl, who was born with opioids in her system, wrecked our world in the best possible way and changed the trajectory of our family ever since. God used her to begin breaking our hearts for what breaks His, and gave us a clear way to respond to James 1:27.

In what ways do you actively live out your faith in your daily life — at work, home, or in your community?

I have the humble privilege of leading in our local church, serving as a dad to 10 kids in our home between 8 and 17 years old, and as a law enforcement officer in my community.

What encouragement or scripture has been especially meaningful to you in this season, and why?

Luke 9:23-24 If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it.

Learning how to live in response to this passage is a lifelong journey of dependence, surrender and faith. I haven’t figure it out – but I find deep purpose in the process.

What advice would you give to someone who’s struggling to live out their faith or looking to grow spiritually?

Fall in love with Christ. Spend time with Him. Find ways to reduce the noise. The distractions. The busyness. Make time to sit quietly with His Word. Meditate on it. Pray over it. Memorize it. Listen for His voice. Let the truth of the Gospel saturate your soul. Chosen. Adopted. Redeemed and Forgiven. Fall in love with Christ. Let your love for Him kindle your spiritual growth and obedience.
